Jerusalem: Hamas has condemned Israel’s decision to prevent Palestinian worshippers from praying at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the second Friday of Ramadan, calling it a “dangerous escalation” in what it described as Israel’s “religious war.”
In a statement, Hamas accused Israel of systematically attacking Muslim practices and intensifying efforts to Judaize Jerusalem and its sacred sites. The group criticized the continued ban on overnight prayers at Al-Aqsa, which has been enforced for the second consecutive year.
Hamas called for a strong response from the Islamic world to stop what it described as Israeli “arrogance and disregard” for Muslim sanctities.
On Thursday, the Al-Quds International Foundation, based in Jerusalem, reported that Israeli forces raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque and forcibly removed worshippers. The incident adds to ongoing tensions in the region, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
